Collagen

As one of the top nonsurgical providers in Hawai’i, alongside cosmetic injection treatments at our Kailua-Kona and Waimea locations, we also offer biostimulators such as SCULPTRA® and RADIESSE®, which are aesthetic injections that stimulate collagen, similarly to regular injectables you know and love. These are great options to choose from when you’re thinking of maintaining wrinkles and smoothing out creases and folds.

Here at Refresh by Dr. Monica & Dr. Monica Scheel Dermatology,
we offer a variety of aesthetic injection biostimulators that can promote a more youthful countenance and help you look your best.

Sculptra

Not your average filler. Sculptra is a biostimulatory aesthetic injectable, which means it helps to stimulate your own production of natural collagen and helps with smoothing out facial wrinkles, improving skin elasticity, and helping you feel more you.

What is Sculptra?

Sculptra (poly-L-lactic acid) is a unique type of filler that utilizes one’s own collagen synthesis to treat volume loss. Sculptra is used to lift and fill in deeper volume loss and folds, such as cheeks, chin, jawline, temples, nasolabial folds, and marionette lines. Sculptra can also help improve thin and crepey skin and shallow smile lines. It works gradually by stimulating collagen, producing a more refined, natural-looking appearance that can last up to two years.

Some people get the rejuvenating results they want with only one treatment, but most skin issues respond best to two to three treatments, spaced six weeks apart. Since Sculptra’s benefits are so long-lasting, a trained and experienced practitioner must do the procedure. Call our office to see if Sculptra is the right filler for you.

This is a great alternative to regular filler injections to keep the skin looking fresh and supple.

What areas are treated with Sculptra?

Sculptra is used to correct shallow-to-deep wrinkles and folds on the face.1 Administered with the appropriate injection technique from a trained specialist, Sculptra is clinically approved for:

  • Cheek wrinkles
  • Deep folds between the nose and mouth (nasolabial folds), also called “smile lines”
  • Lines framing the mouth (marionette lines)
  • Chin wrinkles

Radiesse

Radiesse (Calcium Hydrolyapete) is an injectable biostimulator comporable to that of filler, used to treat lines and wrinkles, sculpt the jawline and chin, and smooth crepey and wrinkled skin of the neck, arms, and above the knees. Radiesse is also FDA-approved to restore volume loss in the hands, and recently approved to treat wrinkles in the décolleté area.

Our office uses Radiesse along the jawline and chin area to define and lift the jawline and jowls as well as sharpen and contour for a slimmer profile.

Dr. Monica Scheel Dermatology also specializes in a unique preparation of Radiesse to help with thin, creepy, and wrinkled skin of the neck, inner arms, and upper knees. Many factors contribute to the loss of collagen and elastin and Radiesse is one of the only biostimulators that stimulates the production of these with minimal downtime.

We specialize in creating a unique dilution of Radiesse paired with a cannula to address your unwanted crepey skin. Radiesse can be injected into your neck, knees, arms, face, and hands.

Patients pictured below had one syringe injected per side and one treatment. Patients also applied Dr. Monica Scheel Dermatology’s Retinol Firming Body Lotion once daily.
