Dr. Scheel is a Board Certified Dermatologist with over 20 years of experience in skin conditions and treatments for the skin, hair, and nails. She began her skin wellness center in Kailua Kona, Hawaii, out of a desire to offer patients a personalized expert visit for their skin concerns. Dr. Scheel’s vision has been achieved by creating a practice that includes state of the art technology, a caring staff, a beautiful office, time to listen to her patients’ concerns and customized treatment plans. Her initial dermatology consultations are 25 to 40 minutes versus the national average of only 7.5 minutes.

Dr. Scheel was professionally trained through the University of Texas system. Her undergraduate degree was in pharmacy from UT Austin. Dr. Scheel practiced Dermatology in Dallas, Texas with a group medical practice before moving to Hawaii to follow her dream. She initially worked part-time with Kaiser Permanente while setting up her own Dermatology office in Kailua Kona.

Dr. Scheel stays active in her field by attending national conferences and advanced training seminars to ensure that she brings the latest in skin care to our Big Island. She completes over 50 hours in continuing education each year to stay current; a value well above the minimum required standards.

Dr. Scheel speaks at local and national meetings on many aspects of dermatology. She has given presentations about skin cancer, psoriasis, exercise in medicine, acne and more. Testimonials & Reviews

One of the best things about Hawaii is the sense of community. People are welcoming, friendly and accept everyone as part of their family. We also think of our patients as family members and work hard to make them happy. Below are just some of the testimonials we’ve received from happy patients.

When dealing with outward appearance, it is always important to be sensitive and compassionate. When you walk into a dermatologist office and it is filled with employees who have flawless skin then a person can become even more self-conscious. BUT then you meet them and they are so kind and empowering. They help you understand your skin and make you feel accepting of the aging process. I had the best experience and the most thorough exam with this office. They don't take insurance but I filed very easily with my HMSA for reimbursement. Highly recommend!! - Christina H.

Patricia, PA, was very thorough in checking for skin cancer and answered all my questions...very professional. Kerry did an awesome job giving me a HydraFacial which was very relaxing and it made my skin look so amazing! - Joni L.

I highly recommend Dr Scheel's office. I am a long time patient of Dr. Scheel. I can still remember my first visit. I was very impressed with the most thorough dermatological exam I had ever received and the care that went into that visit with a complete body scan and mole/spot mapping that is still referred to today. While I still maintain my medical visits with Dr. Scheel and her PA's, I have also ventured into Cosmetic visits to her office. I have been seen by Dr. Scheel, as well as her PA's and other providers and have had several procedures ranging from fillers and relaxers to hair removal, etc. I most recently received fillers from Tricia, who did an amazing job making me look refreshed and natural (never overdone). I trust in Dr. Scheel and her entire team for all of my dermatological needs.  - Kim Y.

I have gone to Marne (mostly in Waimea) for dermatology (checks for skin cancers and suspicious spots). She knows her stuff and cares about a patient's fears and comfort.  - Larry C.

I went in last week for a skin health review to check for sun damage and other potential problems. The doctor and nurse that examined me as a team was absolutely wonderful. Professional, fast and they both made what could have been a somewhat "embarrassing" exam very comfortable for me. This is my second visit to Dr. Scheel's office and both times I had a fantastic experience.

I highly recommend Dr. Scheel. She and her staff are experts at helping me get the results I want. She asked me what bothered me and what I wanted to improve. They had a wide variety of services to help get the look and improvements I wanted. The laser treatment greatly improved my skin quality, texture and helped tighten the skin. It all so helped to get rid of pre-cancers. The injections helped to lift and reduce wrinkles. She is super gentle with injections, I didn't feel much of anything!  She made me feel very comfortable and explained everything as she was working. I fully trust Dr. Scheel and her staff to provide the best results for all of my skin needs!! I have sent lots of my friends there and they are all super happy with their results.

A trip to Monica Scheel's office is always a great experience.  Her staff of Physician's Assistants are wonderful and kind.  Have been going there for years and will continue to do so.

Trish did a very thorough skin checkup on my last visit to the Kona office.  She successfully addressed all past and present issues.  Dr. Scheel, her physician's assistants, and technicians always provide competent and skilled service.  Staff members are friendly and professional.  The office carries its own prescription medicines, often much lower in cost than the offerings of big pharma, along with a variety of protective and enhancing skin products.  As someone older who has maxed out my skin exposure to the sun, I make regular visits to Dr. Scheel's office for examinations and treatments as an important part of maintaining my skin health.
