In August, Dr. Monica Scheel Dermatology attended the Hualalai Employee Health Fair and visited with 65-75 employees. Stephanie Ayau, our dermatology nurse, was there to educate on prevention and detection of pre-cancers and skin cancer. Linda Jo Kolder, CDT, was present to show clients their sun damage in our UV box and to explain ways to make skin healthy AND more attractive.
Many people wanted to understand how HMSA reimburses in our office. With most HMSA plans, you have a $100 deductible each year for your first out-of-network doctor in that year. After that, the coverage is great, 60-70% of the visit for medical needs, such as a skin check, acne treatments, pre-cancer treatments and biopsies for suspicious spots on the skin, is reimbursed within 1-2 weeks. We fill out the form and the patient mails it to the address on their HMSA card. EASY!
