New Ellman Cortex Laser – Part I

Cortex_LaserREPAIR AND RESTORE YOUR SKIN by Patsy Colvin, PA-C Laser medicine is a part of every modern day dermatology practice. Lasers can do everything from remove unwanted hair to destroy pre-cancers to remove unwanted redness and brown pigmentation. We are proud to announce the addition of the Ellman Cortex laser to our practice. Our newest laser has amazing capabilities. It has two different settings to help renew and restore the skin, the Erbium laser and the CO2 laser. Your practitioner will analyze your skin and choose the custom program that is right for you. As a person ages, their collagen production begins to decline which leads to the breakdown of the skin’s underlying support. Daily exposure to UV rays and other environmental elements can cause the skin to become discolored and wrinkled.  Treatments with the Cortex laser will enhance the skin’s strength and elasticity. The skin will have a smoother, tighter texture and pigmentation problems will begin to diminish. Erbium Laser The Erbium Laser addresses the surface layers of the skin. Treatments with the erbium laser can eradicate pre cancers as they are forming. It resurfaces the skin by vaporing the very top layer. New skin is formed after the treatment, and the skin looks fresh and renewed. This treatment is used to treat mild to moderate wrinkles and sun damage, mild acne scars, and actinic keratoses. Treatments are cumulative, and it may take 2-3 treatments with the erbium laser to achieve the desired results. We strongly recommend these treatments to anyone who is having a problem with multiple pre-cancers or anyone who would like to have a fresh and rejuvenated appearance. CO2 Laser The CO2 laser goes deeper, to address the dermis. It uses fractional technology, which enhances rapid healing. Hundreds of tiny laser beams smaller than the width of a hair pierce the skin to the depth of the dermis.  The dermis is stimulated to pour out collagen in a healing response to the laser beams. As a result of this healing response, skin tightens and thickens, collagen production increases, and a general overall rejuvenation is achieved. This treatment is recommended for moderate to severe wrinkles and sun damage and severe acne scars. It is also quite effective in minimizing scars due to surgery or accidents. This is me, Patsy Colvin, your very own Physician Assistant.  The first photograph was taken the morning before the CO2 laser treatment. The second photograph was taken 10 days after treatment  Needless to say, I’m pretty happy. Laser Blepharoplasty: Eyelid lift and tightening with CO2 laser! Free consultation. $1200 for one treatment.
