It is with mixed emotions that I announce that I will be retiring at the end of June. My last day will be June 27th. I’m sad because I love my job, I love my co-workers, and I love my patients. I don’t want to say goodbye to any of you. I’m happy because the next chapter in my life holds the promise of many wonderful things – travel, pursuit of my many personal interests, and, most of all, grandchildren!
It’s been a wonderful journey working with Dr. Monica. There were only 7 of us working here when I became her first PA in 2013. Nobody knew what a PA was then – I had to put brochures in the lobby explaining what we do! Together we opened the Waimea office and expanded our medical services significantly. We opened (and closed) the Hilo office, where I worked for 2 years. Along the way an aesthetic practice was born, and it thrives to this day.
Many of you were there for the numerous community service events we participated in over the years – from the skin check booth at the Ironman competition, to the health fairs at the hotels, to our annual skin screening Saturdays, to the community lectures we gave during skin cancer awareness month. Those events were fun, and they were very valuable for the education they provided.
I am extremely proud of the excellent level of care provided by our staff. Our high standards and our continuous training and updating of our knowledge and skills keeps us on the cutting edge. We are respected throughout the state and enjoy an excellent reputation among our peers. It is my personal belief that we are the best dermatology practice in the State of Hawaii, and it has been my honor to have been a part of it for all these years.
I want to introduce you to Natalie Stilwell, PA-C, who joined us last December. She came to us from a surgical practice and brought many wonderful skills with her, as well as a passion for dermatology. I have every confidence that she will provide you with the same level of exceptional care and compassion you have come to expect from our practice.
If any of you want to move up your July and August appointments to see me before I leave, I’ve opened up some space in my schedule and will do my best to accommodate you.
So many of you have been with me from the very beginning. As I bid farewell, please know that the relationships we’ve built and the memories we’ve shared will always hold a very special place in my heart. You are dear to me. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve each of you and to serve the Big Island of Hawaii. Thank you for your trust in me. I wish you all continued health and happiness in the years to come.
With Warmest Love and Aloha,
PA Patsy Colvin
